In part 2 of our series on Trip Planning for Truck Driving School Students we are looking at the basic principals needed to track your trips. In truck school this issue is discussed and often called the key to making more money. We wanted to provide a few tips to help you track your trips so that you can meet the goals of a profitable well planned trip.
The schools are like so many other things that we learn during our lives. They give you, hopefully a great foundation to make you a great driver. There really is a lot to learn about JD Truck Training Centre and where to go and what the best route might be at any certain time of the year.
Many of the better private schools will have a wide range of training including several weeks of practice at backing up the truck, classroom coverage of everything from log books to maps and routing to air brakes and vehicle inspection. They will also have several weeks of training out on the local roadways. Make sure they will give you the necessary training to get ALL of your endorsements including hazmat, tankers, doubles and triples, and people (buses). Make sure you get ALL of these. It only requires a very short written test and can also severely limit your job opportunities if you leave them out.
When the issue of money is resolved, it's time to decide if the desired school's location will be a good fit for your current situation (i.e. single or married with a family). Are you going to commute daily? If so, how far? Gas can get very costly! Or, are you going to move to attend your choice of Truck driving school? If so, where are you going to reside and at what cost? Some truck driving schools do offer dorms similar to a college campus; but it will obviously raise the cost of attending the institution.
People parks (not dog parks) are an excellent place for socialization. As long as dogs are allowed on leash, take puppy and let him see the walkers, joggers, bikers and wild life that abounds. Another benefit to parks is the exposure to multiple flooring surfaces. A typical park offers grass, concrete, gravel, wood and pine straw. Parks such as Shelley Lake in Raleigh offer all of this plus wood-plank bridges, a playground where puppy can meet some kids and of course, the lake. This is a socialization extravaganza!
Upon discharge from active duty he Lr truck licence was assigned to Fort Hamilton as I had been. Living in Brooklyn it was logical that he would spend his six years of active army reserve at this fort. His outfit was activated during the Korean War and they were sent to Korean. He had been wounded and fortunately not seriously. He mentioned several people who had been either killed or wounded in HR Truck Licence action and I recalled two of them. I learned that traveling, by car, to the top of Mt Lemmon, which is located in the Santa Catalina Mountains, is some 9100+ feet above sea level. When I took Jessica, my teenaged daughter, there, we learned that going from Tucson to the top of the mountain, was like traveling from the border of Mexico to the Canadian border, as far as the changes in Temperate Zones experienced. As I recall, it was around 70 degrees in Tucson, and people were skiing on the snow, in the 20's to 30 degree mark atop Mount Lemmon.
Another item that will help you become an asset to your truck driving company is to have as many endorsements as you can. You never know when your company may need someone to pull a tank, hazardous materials, or a triple trailer. With plenty of behind the wheel experience and several endorsements, you will not only be able to find the Utah truck driving job you want, but you are sure to have a long and successful truck driving career.
